GCash has implemented several enhanced security measures to ensure the safety of its users. One of these measures is two-factor authentication, which requires users to enter a one-time password sent to their registered mobile number or email address, in addition to their account password.

This adds an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized access to GCash accounts. GCash also has a secure server that protects user data from unauthorized access, including encryption of sensitive information.

GCash has also partnered with reputable security companies to further enhance its security features. For example, GCash has partnered with Google to use Google's reCAPTCHA technology to prevent automated bots from accessing GCash accounts.

GCash also monitors user accounts for suspicious activity and has a dedicated team to handle security-related concerns.

GCash Safety Amid Probe

GCash has assured its customers that their funds are safe as investigations on the alleged data leak continue.

GCash chief marketing officer Neil Trinidad said "Safety and trust are our top priorities. We are very proactive in making sure that our customers' accounts and money remain safe."

GCash checked its know-your-customer (KYC) data and found no indication of any data compromise.

The company has introduced "double safe", a security feature that uses face verification beyond MPIN and OTP to ensure the person accessing the account is the account holder.

GCash has also taken down 1,900 phishing sites from January 2023 to May 2024 and rejected 3.2 million account takeover attempts during the same period.

The company cooperates with the CICC, Philippine National Police, and National Bureau of Investigation to resolve cybersecurity issues.

GCash has assured its customers that their accounts are safe, even in the face of a data breach probe.

GCash has introduced new security features, such as Send Money Protect, which provides users with comprehensive protection from common scams.

The company has also introduced Online PaySafe, which redirects users to the GCash app, ensuring that all secure measures are in place.

GCash has a system in place to identify and reach out to affected accounts, and wallet adjustments are ongoing.

Safety Features

GCash has a robust safety feature called "DoubleSafe" Face ID that uses facial recognition to prevent hackers from accessing an account, even if they trick users into giving their mobile PIN and one-time PIN.

This feature is activated for every first login to a new device by the user, providing an extra layer of security.

GCash also monitors potential suspicious activities on its platform and reports them to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for further investigation.

The company has also partnered with Chubb, a global insurer, to offer "Send Money Protect" (SMP), a feature that provides comprehensive protection from common scams, including online shopping fraud and account takeovers, for transactions done via "Express Send" in the app.

SMP can be availed for as little as P30 per month, giving users peace of mind when sending money digitally.

The service is currently in its beta version but will be fully rolled out by November 13, making it available to all GCash users.
