If you're an American Express Centurion cardholder, you're in luck because you have access to an exclusive lounge at LaGuardia Airport, also known as LGA.

The Centurion Lounge at LGA is located in Terminal C, and it's a great spot to relax and unwind before your flight.

This lounge is a bit smaller compared to others, but it's still very comfortable and well-appointed.

You can grab a bite to eat at the lounge, which offers a variety of snacks and light meals.

How to Access

To access the American Express Centurion Lounge at LGA, you'll need to hold a specific type of credit card. The American Express Platinum Card, either from American Express Canada or American Express USA, grants access.

The Delta SkyMiles Reserve card also works, but only if you're flying Delta and a very few Delta flights operate from Terminal B. This means it's unlikely you'll gain access this way.

You can also use the American Express Business Platinum card, which earns Membership Rewards points and offers cardholders benefits like complimentary airport lounge access.

In our experience, we gained access using my wife's Canadian American Express Business Platinum card. They welcomed us in after scanning her card and same-day boarding pass.

Here are the credit cards that grant access to the Centurion Lounge:

  • Centurion Card from American Express (aka The Amex Black Card)
  • American Express Platinum Card (either from American Express Canada or American Express USA)
  • American Express Delta SkyMiles Reserve card (US)
  • American Express Business Platinum card

New York City

The American Express Centurion Lounge at New York City's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) is a gem. The lounge is located in Terminal B, which is convenient for travelers flying Air Canada, JetBlue, Southwest, Frontier, or United.

To gain access, you'll need to hold an American Express Platinum Card (either from American Express Canada or American Express USA) or an American Express Delta SkyMiles Reserve card (US). However, the Delta SkyMiles Reserve card only works if you're flying Delta, and few Delta flights operate from Terminal B, so it's unlikely you'll gain access that way.

You can find the lounge easily by spotting its trademark blue wall. The Chase Sapphire Lounge is right next door for those interested in lounge hopping.

The lounge has undergone significant upgrades, more than doubling in size, and is now located behind security. It features a dedicated family room, more workspace and phone rooms, and soaring views of the New York City skyline.

Here's a quick rundown of the lounge's hours and location:

  • Location: Terminal B near the bridge to gates 40-59
  • Hours: Open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Saturday, when it closes at 9 p.m.

The lounge offers all the usual amenities, including comfortable seating, fast Wi-Fi, and an open bar with free wine and cocktails. Meals are a step above what you'll get in most other airport lounges, designed by local chef Ravi Kapur with a focus on California fare.

So, if you're flying out of LaGuardia and have the right credit card, be sure to check out the Centurion Lounge for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Lounge Amenities

The Amex Centurion lounge at LGA has some interesting lounge amenities. There's a small, invite-only room reserved for Centurion cardholders, who pay $5,000 a year for the privilege.

Elevated service and higher-shelf alcohol are available in this exclusive room, but it doesn't offer better privacy than the non-reserved sections. The lounge also has a business center where you can find this invite-only room tucked away in the back.

American Express Network

Lounge Policies

You can bring guests to the Amex Centurion Lounge, but be aware of the guest policies.

Guests must be accompanied by the cardmember who provided their access at all times. If you're a cardmember who spends $75,000 or more on the card annually, you get complimentary access for two guests at all US Centurion Lounge locations.

The cost for each guest is $50, with a discounted rate of $30 for children aged 2 through 17, provided you have proof of age.

LaGuardia's Isn't the Nicest

LaGuardia's Centurion Lounge is simple but sophisticated, with clever AmEx branding, nice living spaces, and separate rooms for kids and business meetings.

The Centurion Lounge at LaGuardia Airport is not even the nicest one that AmEx has to offer. The New York-JFK Centurion location has a speakeasy, which is a major upgrade.

Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card holders can access six Chase-owned airport lounges since 2023, but the larger Centurion Lounge collection means there is one at almost all of the airports I regularly visit.

The Centurion Lounge at LaGuardia Airport has good food, spacious rooms, and amenities that will be better than the usual Priority Pass go-tos.

Here's a quick rundown of the guest fees:

Waitlist Procedures

Capacity limits at Centurion Lounges vary according to state and local governments as well as health authorities, so you might have to wait to gain entrance to one.

Staff at your lounge's member desk will ask for your name and cell number, and you'll get a text when it's your turn to enter the lounge.

Bottom Line

The Amex Centurion Lounges are still among the best in the U.S. because they offer great food and drinks, plenty of comfortable seating, and additional amenities that vary by location.

These lounges are easily among the best you can get into with a credit card, which is why they're more popular than ever.
