Who Killed Ali in Pretty Little Liars?

Pretty Little Liars, the show that gave us seven seasons of mystery, suspense, and intrigue has had some amazing twists along the way – but none quite as monumental as discovering just who killed Ali DiLaurentis.

Originally it seemed to be Melissa Hastings, Ali’s half-sister and close friend of the liars. After her disappearance years before, a single piece of evidence seemed to point to Melissa as the likely murderer: a shovel in her possession that had been used to bury Ali’s body. But even with the overwhelming evidence, fans were still unsure that Melissa was truly responsible for killing her old friend.

The biggest piece of evidence confirming Melissa’s guilt came in season four when she attempted suicide by swallowing a bottle of pills – however this too was proven false by Dr. Rollins who revealed himself to be “A” and ultimately revealed himself as Ali’s murderer. Apparently motivated by love and an obsession with Ali, Rollins successfully framed Jennaand Melissa for his crime in order to get away with it unscathed.

Dr. Rollins later attempted to murder all four of Pretty Little Liar's lead characters but ultimately ended up burning down Alison's barn while still inside; his plan backfired and resulted in his own death at the hands of lightning strike right outside the barn – thus revealing Dr Rollins as Ali's true killer once and for all!

In the original series Pretty Little Liars it is established that Mona was killed by a police officer hired by the character Charlotte DiLaurentis disguised as CeCe Drake. This officer doesn’t have any direct motive to kill Mona and he is simply doing his job as instructed by Charlotte. This in turn could be seen as Charlotte being responsible for Mona’s death since she prompted him to do so, although it's important to note that this isn’t intentional harm from Charlotte but instead an act out of protection for herself from being exposed.

In addition another character involved Ezra Fitz at fault who released a violent Uber A (Aria Montgomery) she had hired to kidnap and possibly kill them but they didn't succeed as they were kidnapped by an alternate Uber A which lead directly to Mona Vanderwaal’s demise due to being present at the scene which all could've been avoided if not for Ezra Fitz releasing his captive earlier but we must remember this act wasn't done out of malice but instead fear seeing as how he was scared for Aria's safety which leaded him down this path of destruction unknowingly at first if not then everything could possibly be avoided if they didn't get involved in such danger which ties us back around with Charlotte where if she never created A or got into Alison's business things could've been different, hence why no one particular person can be held responsible for her death due to different misjudgment and assumptions on multiple sides therefore explaining why no particular individual can really be blamed for her death.

Charlotte DiLaurentis' murderer was Mona Vanderwaal, a former student at Rosewood High. Mona had a long-standing tumultuous relationship with the Liars, which she tried to hide under her nerd persona. Her various experiences with the Liars ultimately pushed her over the edge and drove her to murder Charlotte.

Mona’s animosity towards the Liars began when they caught her trying to steal Spencer’s jacket during the school play in season one. It only grew from there as Mona became twisted in their ongoing battles with Alison DiLaurentis, Charlotte’s older sister. After being rejected by Alison's entourage and unfairly categorized as an ‘outcast’ for years, Mona finally blows at being constantly sidelined by them and she seeks revenge.

Mona's fiery temper shines through during Finals week of season seven when she pushes Charlotte from her apartment balcony sending her crashing onto a parked car below. This deadly act of anger is revealed throughout the show's remainder and becomes an integral part of it's gripping plotline.

This mysterious figure often employ a ruse, continually leaving the core four bewildered and in constant search for truth. Furthermore, even when viewers thought their nemesis was extinguished "A" would resurface cloaked in a new face or form with an agenda of immense power which terrified all within its reach. Though quite sophisticated in both manner and spirit that this figure approached every situation gives us pause to think maybe we expect too much from others yet not enough from ourselves.
