Payment Options
The Wayne County Treasurer's office now accepts credit card payments for various services. This is a convenient option for those who prefer not to pay in person or by mail.
You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover credit cards. These payment options are available online, by phone, or in person at the treasurer's office.
The treasurer's office also offers a payment plan for property taxes, which can be paid in installments over several months. This can be a helpful option for those who need to budget their payments.
Credit Card Payments
Credit card payments are a convenient and widely accepted option for making purchases online and in-person. They offer a range of benefits, including rewards programs, cashback incentives, and purchase protection.
Many credit cards have a 0% introductory APR, allowing you to make purchases without paying interest for a certain period, such as 6 or 12 months. This can be a great option for financing large purchases or paying off high-interest debt.
Credit card payments can be made online, by phone, or in person, and most merchants accept major credit card brands like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
Treasurer
In Wayne County, Treasurer Eric R. Sabree is a strong supporter of the DivDat Delinquent Tax Payment Kiosks.
These kiosks have been a game-changer for taxpayers, providing a convenient way to pay delinquent bills with cash, personal check, or credit card.
With an interface as easy to use as an ATM, residents can pay their bills at any time, even after office hours.
Since their introduction in August 2016, the kiosks have had over 31,000 transactions, and 278 transactions in the first month alone.
Currently, there are over 30 kiosks in the metro Detroit area, including one that will be installed at the Downriver Community Conference in Southgate at the end of June.
According to DivDat President Jason Bierkle, 75% of tax payments were made outside the Wayne County Treasurer's Office, showing the effectiveness of these kiosks in making payments more accessible to residents.
Treasurer Sabree hopes to see more municipalities join the program and install kiosks in their own neighborhoods.
