With Passbook, you can store your boarding pass on your iPhone and access it quickly and easily.

Passbook was introduced by Apple in 2012 as a feature in iOS 6.

It allows you to store tickets, passes, and boarding passes in one convenient location.

The boarding pass is automatically updated when you check in for your flight, so you'll always have the latest information.

You can access your boarding pass by tapping the Passbook icon on your iPhone.

Passbook Disappoints

Passbook is a free app that automatically appears when upgrading to iOS 6 on your iPhone.

Most of my disappointment with Passbook was my own fault. I spent a quick 24 hours in Chicago this past weekend for a wedding, flying out from Los Angeles on Saturday and returning on Sunday.

There's an additional step required to have boarding passes appear in Passbook, which is often overlooked. I reviewed my boarding pass on United's mobile app and noticed an "Add to Passbook" button.

To view the boarding pass, you have to swipe the prompt from left to right to open the actual boarding pass. I tried clicking it to view it but nothing happened, which was frustrating.

Old boarding passes don't automatically delete from Passbook post departure, which can cause confusion. You have to manually delete them.

My gate assignment didn't appear on the Passbook boarding pass, which was an issue. The gate appeared on United's mobile app and on United's displays in the terminal.

Mobile Boarding Pass Options

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair offer a Mobile Boarding Pass service through Passbook, allowing users to store multiple boarding passes in one place.

Passbook lets you scan your iPhone or iPod touch to get to your flight, making it easy to access your boarding pass without needing another app.

You can store any number of Cathay Pacific or Dragonair Mobile Boarding Passes in Passbook and access them easily.

After checking in for your flight online, you can retrieve your Mobile Boarding Pass by clicking on the relevant hyperlink provided by SMS or email.

Then, simply click the “Add to Passbook” badge to store the boarding pass in Passbook.

Alternatively, you can add your boarding pass to Passbook by clicking the “Add Boarding Pass to Passbook” button on the check-in confirmation page.

Passbook-enabled boarding passes can “pop up” at the right time, thanks to integration with iOS device location and time-aware functions.

This means your boarding pass will appear on your mobile device’s “lock” screen when you’re near the airport and closer to departure time.

You can then open up your boarding pass with a simple pinch on the notification alert directly from the home screen.

At the airport, passengers can scan the boarding pass with the Passbook barcode when proceeding through immigration, security, and the boarding gate.

The Mobile Boarding Pass service is currently available in 22 Cathay Pacific destinations and five Dragonair destinations.

It's also worth noting that TrekkSoft now supports Apple Wallet and Android Passbook, allowing customers to add tickets to their digital wallets.
