The upgrade includes a new mobile app that allows members to check their balances, transfer funds, and pay bills on the go.

With this new technology, members will be able to manage their finances more efficiently and effectively.

The online banking system will also be more secure, with enhanced encryption and two-factor authentication to protect member information.

Montgomery County Employees FCU has a new name: SkyPoint Federal Credit Union. The name change reflects the credit union's evolved field of membership, which now serves more than 40 different organizations and the community at large.

The new name was developed by Your Marketing Co. in Greenville, S.C. The credit union's leadership felt that the name SkyPoint fit its mission to help people feel more positive about life and finances.

The credit union's core values remain the same, but are now more defined. SkyPoint Federal Credit Union is committed to making banking simple and providing personalized service to each member.

SkyPoint's community charter now allows membership to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or volunteers in certain counties in Maryland and Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia.

By becoming a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), SkyPoint can provide responsible and affordable financing to low-income and underserved communities that might otherwise rely on high-cost payday lenders.

The expansion allows the credit union to better reach its diverse and changing community.

The credit union received a Community Development Financial Institutions Fund grant and Juntos Avanzamos designation, which will help it serve underserved communities in the area.
