UBS Arena

The UBS Arena is a game-changer for the Islanders and Long Island's entertainment scene. Located at Belmont Park, the arena's addressable ticket audience is huge, according to Bryan Calka, Islanders senior vice president of global partnerships.

The arena's premium offerings are top-notch, designed by Goodrich. They include a speakeasy hidden in the venue's gut, 38 suites, 20 loft boxes, 18 event-level suites with direct access to the seating bowl, and 10 bars that open right onto the seating bowl.

The premium areas are so nice that Calka calls them the "nicest I've seen in my career", which includes previous stops with the Yankees and BSE Global. They're available to ticket holders of any type, including the Heineken Terrace, an outdoor bar above the arena's main entrance that looks out over the campus.

The arena has already seen significant success, with over 12,000 season tickets sold out and a waiting list for the first time in team history. Premium seating sold out, and the sponsorship roster is nearly full, far exceeding any sponsorship revenue number the team imagined pre-UBS Arena.

Behind the Scenes, Front and Center

The attention to detail at Delaware North's UBS Arena is impressive, starting with the loading dock. This 65,000 square foot space is enclosed and heated, with room for 10-plus trailers and seven loading bays with direct access to the arena floor.

Most arenas have between two and five loading docks, but UBS Arena's setup speeds up the loading process, allowing acts to get in and out quicker. Time is money, after all.

The loading area is also ventilated, allowing tour buses to run indoors, providing a valuable oasis for performers or crew members on the road.

A short walk from the loading docks is the artists' compound, a 3,300 square foot space that includes four dressing rooms, three separate green rooms and hangout spots, a kitchen, bars, and clubs.

Some of the nicest finished spaces in the building are reserved for the stars, providing a comfortable and stylish space for performers to prepare.

Having a private area for women to shower or for hours-long makeup, hair, and wardrobe sessions is a welcome perk on the road, saving costs on hotel suites and transportation.

The arena features a variety of healthy food options, including a salad bar and a smoothie station, to help fuel your mind and body.

You can also take a stroll around the arena's outdoor plaza, which offers beautiful views of the surrounding area and a chance to get some fresh air.

The arena's quiet room is a peaceful oasis that provides a calm and relaxing space for visitors to unwind.

The arena's staff are happy to help you find the perfect spot to relax and take a break from the excitement.

Live Music and Events

UBS Arena is designed to host 150 events annually, including 50 Islanders home games and 50 to 60 concerts.

The arena's focus on live music is influenced by its co-owner, Irving Azoff, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer with hundreds of A-list clients and immense clout in the entertainment industry.

Azoff's experience helped formulate OVG's thinking on designing buildings with music as a co-tenant, instead of an afterthought.

UBS Arena is expected to be the second choice for touring acts that want to play in the New York market, but can't afford the high costs associated with playing at Madison Square Garden.

The arena has signed a deal with Feld to bring the company's various shows to Long Island, starting with Disney On Ice in January.

This is expected to change the market for sure, according to Jeff Meyer, Feld Entertainment senior vice president of global partnerships.
