Meet the New BCBS President and CEO

Kimberly Reed is the new President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). She was appointed to this role in 2022.

Kimberly Reed brings over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry to her new position. She has worked in various leadership roles, including serving as the President and CEO of BCBS's parent company, Health Care Service Corporation.

Reed has a strong track record of innovation and growth, having led the development of new health insurance products and services. Her experience in the industry will be invaluable in driving BCBS forward.

Tricia Keith has been appointed as the new president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, succeeding Daniel Loepp in January 2025.

She will become the company's first female chief executive and only the third president and CEO to lead the Blue Cross enterprise in the last 40 years.

Keith has been with the company since 2006 and currently serves as executive vice president, COO, and president of Emerging Markets.

Tricia Keith is a Michigan native, with a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in 1993 and an MBA from Michigan State University in 2009.

Loepp, the longest-serving chief executive in the company's history, will retire in January 2025, having transformed the company from a single-state health insurance plan to a diversified multi-company enterprise of national scale.

Tricia Keith is confident about her ability to lead the company, noting that there are powerful forces of change impacting health care, including technology, drug and medical cost growth, and industry consolidation.

Loepp has expressed his confidence in Keith, stating that she has the energy, experience, and innovative spirit the company needs as health care continues to change.
