
Banco Nacional de Crédito is a Peruvian bank with a rich history. It was founded in 1889.
The bank has undergone several transformations over the years, with its most significant change occurring in 1990 when it was converted into a commercial bank.
Banco Nacional de Crédito has a strong presence in Peru, with a large network of branches and ATMs across the country.
History
Banco Nacional de Crédito opened its doors in San Antonio del Táchira, Táchira State in July 1977 as a branch of Banco Tequendama from Colombia.
In 2002, a group of Venezuelan investors began talks to purchase the bank, which was completed in February 2003, and the name was changed to Banco Nacional de Crédito in April of the same year.
By 2003, the bank had 13 agencies. By mid-2007, the number of agencies had increased significantly to 79 nationwide.
Five years later, in 2012, the bank had reached 156 agencies and approximately 687,372 clients.

Today, Banco Nacional de Crédito has 171 agencies nationwide, 460 ATMs, and approximately 1,417,932 customers.
The bank acquired all the shares of Stanford Bank for $111 million dollars in 2009, after Stanford Bank was intervened by the Venezuelan State due to the crisis of its parent company.
Citibank Venezuela transferred its assets and liabilities to Banco Nacional de Crédito in 2021, due to Citigroup's minimization of activities caused by the economic recession in Venezuela.
Banco Nacional de Crédito acquired some assets and assumed the liabilities of Banco Occidental de Descuento in 2022, becoming the largest private bank in Venezuela with over 500 agencies.
