The first Maleficent movie, the live action adaptation of Disney’s classic animated feature Sleeping Beauty, is a special film for many reasons. Released in 2014 to positive reviews from critics and a solid box office draw, it breathed new life into the beloved property. Unfortunately, however, if you are looking to watch Maleficent on Disney+, you may be disappointed to learn that it isn’t currently available.

So why is the first Maleficent not on Disney+? The primary reason is due to one of its streaming rights-holder laws. The 2014 movie was originally distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures - before their purchase of 20th Century Fox in 2019 - and as such was sold with worldwide streaming rights to Netflix for seven years after its theatrical release date in May 2014; this deal included exclusive access in Europe and American territories (excluding Canada). Although when this deal ends on 5th May 2021, we can hopefully expect Malificent 1 back on our TVs via Disney+.

Another supporting factor behind its absence from the platform could be because Disney wants fans to invest and take an interest in their live-action copies that have either released or will release soon such as Aladdin (2019) and Mulan (2020). They want viewers eyes focused on re-tellings – with modern day technology – rather than watching possibly aged/old films like the original’s Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella (1951).

To conclude: Unfortunately at present time we cannot watch the original version of Maleficent through our TV via subscription service; however potentially come 2021 once its Netflix Worldwide stream licensing expires we will get another chance by adding it onto their already vast library list via services such as Hulu or Amazon Prime Video too!

Why isn't the 2014 version of Maleficent available on Disney Plus?

Disney Plus, Disney’s streaming service, has been home to some of our most beloved movies over the past few years. However, despite having a good collection of classic Disney favorites from the past few years, there is one movie that is noticeably missing from their lineup: 2014's Maleficent.

So why isn't the 2014 version of Maleficent available on Disney Plus? The answer seems to lie in complicated licensing agreements with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Maleficent was not released by Disney directly but instead licensed through Sony Pictures Entertainment. As a result, it cannot be included in the library of titles available on Disney Plus like other classic animated Disney films can be.

In addition to this licensing issue, there may also be another factor preventing us from streaming Maleficent on our favorite streaming service: money! While buying or renewing licensing deals for movies is always expensive for studios, often times it doesn't make financial sense for them to renew existing deals just so they can add a title or two onto a streaming service like Disney Plus. Since some of these deals are tied up for years at a time, sometimes studios simply don’t have enough money to keep up with all of their existing contracts and opt not to spend money on renewing old ones in order to focus their budgets elsewhere—which could explain why we haven’t seen any changes with regards to Maleficent being added to the platform yet!

Ultimately though, without seeing what goes on behind closed doors when it comes signing these types of contracts and working out the details between studios and streaming services like Disney+, it's impossible t really know what's preventing us from being able watch 2014’s beloved live-action take on Sleeping Beauty but until then—Disney fans will just have keep waiting patiently!

What is the reason behind the absence of the first Maleficent film from Disney Plus?

With Disney Plus’ massive catalog of classic and modern movies, it may come as a surprise that not even the beloved Maleficent movie is available for streaming. The 2014 live-action remake of the original Sleeping Beauty classic stars Angelina Jolie as the infamous villainous fairy and paints a very different picture of her origin story than the original cartoon did.

So why isn’t Maleficent available on Disney Plus? It all boils down to licensing agreements and contracts between film distributors and streaming services, which determine which movies can be included on each platform. Since Disney does not own the rights to Maleficent in its entirety, they cannot put it on their service for legal reasons.

It's unlikely that this situation will change any time soon since the movie is distributed by Sony Pictures - due to a common practice called “windowing” these days, movies stay in theaters longer than normal before they get released digitally (in this case via streaming services). After its initial theatrical run sometime late 2020 or early 2021, you can expect to find Maleficent available on other major digital platforms such as iTunes and HULU before it eventually comes to Netflix or perhaps even Disney+ at some later date.

In other words - don't despair if your favorite fairy tale hasn't made its way onto your favorite streaming service yet! Even despite contractual issues like windowing agreements or copyright infringements hindering much-loved titles from making an appearance online, there are still plenty of ways for you to watch great content with ease.

When will the original Maleficent be added to Disney Plus?

Disney Plus recently announced plans to add classic films to its streaming service and one of the most widely anticipated releases is the classic 1959 Maleficent. With over seven decades having passed since its original theatrical release, many are asking when this beloved story will be available for streaming on Disney Plus.

At this time, Disney has not provided an exact date for when Maleficent will appear on the platform, but it can be safely assumed that it won’t be long before our favorite wicked fairy godmother becomes a part of the ever-growing Disney Plus library. As soon as an official announcement is made, you can expect details such as special features and giving streams are also likely to follow shortly thereafter.

In the meantime, fans should keep their eyes peeled for hints about a potential release date or even possible surprises dropped by those involved in bringing this beloved film back home. Until then, stay patient and enjoy all that Disney Plus has to offer while eagerly awaiting Maleficent’s return.

How can I watch the 2014 version of Maleficent if it's not on Disney Plus?

If you’re looking to watch Maleficent (2014) but it’s not on Disney Plus, don’t despair! There are still a variety of options available to you so you can enjoy this beloved movie.

One way is to purchase or rent it from a digital platform, such as Amazon Prime Video or iTunes. You can either choose to rent the film for 48 hours or make a purchase where you will own the digital copy forever. It's easy and convenient, and once downloaded, you’ll be able to access your movie right away without any buffering issues.

You also have the option of visiting your local library and borrowing Maleficent (2014). This is one of the more cost-efficient ways of watching movies since most libraries are completely free with just having proof of identification. The only issue may be that due to limited resources, there may not be many copies available for lonterm checkout; however if multiple copies exist then that would lighten the load on everyone else who also wants it.

Finally, don't forget about DVD rental stores like Blockbuster which remain standing in some parts of United States (albeit sparsely). Although these locations aren't as prevalent anymore with streaming platforms such as Disney Plus taking over in this regard, they still do offer an alternative way for people to watch movies renters otherwise wouldn't know about just yet.

Overall, while you won’t find Maleficent at Disney Plus right now, there are plenty other options that provide access so almost anyone can enjoy the movie wherever they happen to be located!

Does Disney Plus have any plans to add the first Maleficent to its streaming library?

Although Maleficent has already been available for streaming on Disney Plus, the original 2014 movie has yet to be added to the library. While the sequel, Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil premiered on Disney Plus in April 2020, fans were disappointed that they still couldn't watch Angelina Jolie in her iconic role as a wicked villainess.

However, good news may be in store for die-hard fans of the first movie. Since its launch less than a year ago, Disney Plus has quickly added dozens of popular titles and franchises to its streaming library—many of which were previously unavailable elsewhere. With this impressive track record and consistent approach towards expanding their selection, it stands to good reason that they'll eventually include the original Maleficent film as well.

Plus, with an exciting array of upcoming Marvel studios films heading our way courtesy of MCU Phase 4— coupled with a planned reboot for some classic cartoon series such as The Proud Family (which will appear on Disney's new streaming service)—adding old favorites like Maleficent ought to be a top priority so subscribers can enjoy her sassy attitude again after all these years!

Is there any way to watch the first Maleficent movie without having to purchase a physical copy?

If you haven't seen the first Maleficent movie and don't want to purchase a physical copy, then never fear - there are other ways! There are multiple streaming services that offer the 2014 movie; these include streaming giants like Netflix, iTunes and Amazon Video.

In addition to these choices, there's also the option of renting or buying a digital version from online stores such as Apple TV or Google Play. With this option, you can watch the movie on any device that is compatible with streaming services (such as your laptop) while avoiding outlaying money for physical copies of disc media.

Lastly, if all else fails, check out some free Maleficent movie-watching websites like 123movies Go, FMovies and SnagFilms - all of which have Neflix-style interfaces that allow users to watch movies in full HD without any membership fees involved.

So no matter what style you prefer for your home entertainment experience - streaming versus downloading or even good old fashioned TV viewing -there is no shortage of options when it comes to watching (or re-watching) classic stories likeMaleficent without having to purchase a physical copy. Enjoy!
