
GBP, or the British Pound, is the official currency of the United Kingdom. The UK is the only country where GBP is the sole currency in circulation.
The UK is made up of four constituent countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each of these countries uses GBP as their official currency.

Countries Using the Pound
The United Kingdom, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, and Saint Helena all use the pound as their official currency.
Guernsey, Isle of Man, and Jersey have their own versions of the pound, including the Jersey Pound, Guernsey Pound, and Manx Pound.
The Channel Islands, who have the queen as Head of State, but are not in Britain or the European Union, use a currency that has a Jersey Pound, Guernsey Pound or an Alderney Pound as well as Sterling.
Some British Overseas Territories and dependencies also use currencies called the Pound, such as the Saint Helena Pound, the Gibraltar Pound, the Falklands Pound and the South Georgia and Sandwich Island Pound.

The UK's currency is divided into 100 pence, with banknotes available in denominations of £5, £10, £20, and £50. You can also find coins in various denominations, including 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1, and £2.
GBP is a widely traded currency, with the Bank of England managing its supply and setting interest rates to control inflation. The UK's currency is also pegged to the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM), which helps maintain a stable exchange rate with other European currencies.
