What Happened to Jeff Skversky?

Jeff’s first love was always baseball. He played in high school and then went on to pitch for the University of Pennsylvania. His love for the game led him to a career in sports broadcasting. He started as a reporter for WPVI in 1977, and then became the sports director in 1981. He spent the next 38 years informing and entertaining Philadelphia sports fans. He was the play-by-play voice for the Phillies from 1983-1997, and then again from 2001-2002. He also announced for the Eagles, Sixers, and local college football and basketball games. In addition to his on-air duties, Jeff was a driving force in the development of Sports Radio 94 WIP. He was one of the original hosts of the popular “ Angelo Cataldi and the Morning Team” show.

Jeff was more than just a sports broadcaster. He was a true Philadelphian. He was born and raised in the city, and he loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to his wife Debbie, and a loving father to his three children, Amy, Brian, and ‎Greg. He was also a proud grandfather to his six grandchildren.

Jeff was respected and loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His loss is a devastating blow to the entire Philadelphia community. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
