Summit Community Bank was originally established on December 11, 1995, as The Capital State Bank, Inc.
The bank's name changed to Capital State Bank, Inc. in April 1998. This was the first of many name changes the bank would go through over the years.
In 2004, the bank acquired Summit Community Bank in Moorefield, West Virginia, and changed its name to Summit Community Bank, Inc. on November 12 of the same year.
