Refunding a purchase made with Shop Pay is a straightforward process, and you have several options to choose from.

You can initiate a refund online by logging into your Shop Pay account and selecting the order you'd like to refund.

To be eligible for a refund, the item must be in its original condition, with all original tags and packaging intact.

If you'd prefer to return an item in person, you can visit a physical store location of the merchant who sold it to you.

Refunds are typically processed within 5-7 business days, but may take longer in some cases.

Refund Process

To initiate a refund, you can start by learning how to request a refund. This can be done by checking the relevant article section, which outlines the steps to follow.

If you need to refund payments for items, you can do so by clicking into the Paid tab, ticking the boxes next to the students to refund, and then clicking the Bulk action button to select Refund purchase.

Refunding payments will automatically return the full amount for the selected purchases to the original payment card. The invoice will be cancelled and a credit note will be added.

You can also mark items as not issued, which is useful for refunding and cancelling purchases. To do this, you can click into the item overview or the Orders page.

Here's a step-by-step guide to refunding and marking School Shop items as not issued:

  • Click into the item overview or the Orders page.
  • Tick the boxes next to the items to refund.
  • Click the Bulk action button to select Refund purchase.
  • Confirm the refund to complete the process.

Refund Options

Refunds can be a bit of a process, but don't worry, we've got it covered. You can refund the full payment amount, which is explained in the instructions above.

If you need to give a partial refund, you have a few options. You can set up a new price for the item, which can be eligible just for the student who needs the refund or for everyone if the price has been lowered retrospectively.

To set up a new price, follow the instructions in step 3 of the section Setting up your School Shop. You can make the new price available on the Parent Portal or Arbor app, or you can manually log the purchase.

Here are the steps to give a partial refund:

  1. Set up a new price for the item.
  2. Have the guardians purchase the item again at the new lowered price.

You can either re-purchase the items on the Parent Portal or Arbor app, or you can manually log the purchase following the instructions in the article.
