SECU Tax Preparation Program

State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) offers a Low-Cost Tax Preparation Program to eligible members.

Starting January 22nd, SECU tax preparers will be on hand in all 267 locations across the state to answer questions and complete and electronically file 2019 federal and state income tax returns.

Qualifying members can have both federal and state tax returns prepared and filed for a flat fee of only $75.00.

Last year, more than 70,300 members took advantage of this convenient low-cost service.

SECU's Senior Vice President of Tax Preparation Services, Tenesha Carter, said the program is an important element of member service, allowing them to open a dialogue about financial matters, educate members, and provide guidance to help set and prioritize goals.

SECU's Tax Preparation Services has made it easier than ever to get your taxes done. You can simply drop-off your tax documents at any of the Credit Union's 246 branches statewide.

No appointment is necessary, which means you can take care of your taxes at a time that's convenient for you. This new approach is a big change from previous years, and it's designed to accommodate the increasing number of members who want to take advantage of SECU's services.

Your tax return will be completed within three business days, reviewed and signed by you, then e-filed. This means you'll get your refund quickly, and you won't have to worry about a thing.

SECU has helped nearly 65,000 North Carolina taxpayers claim more than $86 million in refunds, $40 million in tax credits, and save over $8 million in tax preparation fees. That's a lot of money that people have been able to keep in their pockets.
