Mexico City Airport is a major transportation hub, and navigating its currency exchange services can be a challenge.

The airport offers multiple currency exchange options, including Travelex and Western Union.

You can find these services in the airport's main terminal, near the arrivals area.

Travelex has several locations throughout the airport, making it easy to find one that suits your needs.

Western Union is available in the airport's international terminal.

Atms in Mexico

Most cities and towns in Mexico have an abundance of ATMs where you can withdraw Mexican pesos directly from your credit card or debit card.

It's often the most convenient way of accessing money while traveling, safer than carrying cash, and the exchange rate offered is usually very competitive.

If you're going to be traveling in rural areas or staying in remote villages, be sure to take enough cash with you, as ATMs may be scarce.

Carrying enough cash can help avoid the stress of not having access to money when you need it.

Currency Exchange

Currency exchange can be a bit tricky, but don't worry, I've got you covered. The currency in Mexico is the Mexican peso, denoted by the "dollar sign" $, which can be confusing for tourists who are used to seeing prices in USD.

You can exchange money at banks, but it's often more convenient to change currency at a casa de cambio (exchange bureau). These businesses are open longer hours than banks and offer comparable exchange rates.

To get the best exchange rate at an ATM, decline the local conversion rate. This will allow your home institution to set the dynamic currency conversion rate, which is almost always better than the local rate. I've never seen the local rate beat the dynamic currency conversion rate, and it's usually 5% to 10% more expensive.

International travelers arriving in Mexico City can exchange currency and access banking services at both airports. Currency exchange kiosks and ATMs are readily available, allowing you to obtain Mexican pesos or withdraw cash as needed.
