A GoFundMe campaign set up for Lyndell Mays' family has raised thousands of dollars, but it's also sparked a heated debate about whether the suspect's family is in genuine need.
The campaign, which has been active for several weeks, has garnered significant attention and donations, with some contributors expressing concern that the funds may not be going directly to the suspect's family.
The GoFundMe campaign was created to help Mays' family cover expenses related to his incarceration and legal fees.

The Lyndell Mays GoFundMe page was created by his mother, Teneal Burnside, to raise funds for hospital bills.
It was set up with a photo of Mays in a hospital bed after nine bullets entered his body.
The page was shut down on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Mays was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the tragedy.

He admitted to pulling out his gun initially and shooting at another person at the crowded event.
Mays claimed the other individuals started shooting only after he shot first.
He responded to investigators that he took the action because he thought the others were going to kill him.
Mays was being held on a $1 million bond, along with co-suspect Dominic Miller.
