De Volksbank is a cooperative bank that operates in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1863 by a group of entrepreneurs who wanted to provide financial services to the local community.

De Volksbank's mission is to help its customers achieve their financial goals, with a focus on providing personalized service and support. The bank's cooperative structure allows it to make decisions that benefit its members, rather than just its shareholders.

By operating as a cooperative bank, De Volksbank can offer its customers a unique set of benefits, including lower fees and more flexible loan terms. This approach has helped the bank to build strong relationships with its customers and establish a reputation for trust and reliability.

De Volksbank Brand

We'll be merging with other brands to become one strong retail brand. This change will start in 2025 and is expected to be completed within three years.

The new brand will be called ASN Bank, which has a strong position as a pioneer in sustainable and socially responsible banking since its foundation in 1960.

We'll keep customers of all our brands informed about the changes and what they mean for them during the transition process.

De Volksbank is a Dutch retail banking group with a focus on mortgages, savings, and payments, serving around 3 million customers. It has a balance sheet of €62 billion.

The bank was previously known as SNS Bank, but was renamed De Volksbank on January 1, 2017. This change was announced in September 2016.

De Volksbank has a strong commitment to sustainability, with ASN Bank's sustainability policy leading the way for all De Volksbank activities since July 2016. This policy prohibits investments in companies involved in the trade or production of nuclear weapons.

The responsible investment policy applies to all commercial banking activities, excluding nuclear weapon producers from investments. This exclusion policy is applied to all asset management activities, including assets managed externally.

As of January 2018, ACTIAM's exclusion list contains 39 companies for involvement in weapons, based on data from Sustainalytics. These companies include major players in the defense industry.

ASN Bank publishes an inclusion list of companies approved for investment, excluding those involved in weapons production or trade. This list is regularly updated to reflect changes in the market and De Volksbank's values.
