Cash Card Number: A Guide to Using Apple Cash

Using Apple Cash requires a Cash Card number, which is a 16-digit card number that's linked to your Apple ID. This number is used to make purchases and send money.

The Cash Card number is displayed on the back of your physical Cash Card or in the Wallet app on your device. You can also find it by going to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.

Using Apple Cash

You can use Apple Cash to send and receive money with an eligible device. Apple Cash services are provided by Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC.

To use Apple Cash, you must be 18 and a U.S. resident. If you're under 18, your family organizer can set up Apple Cash for you as part of their Apple Cash Family account.

To access and use all Apple Cash features, you must have an eligible device with Wallet that has the latest version of iOS. Apple Cash doesn't support some merchant categories, such as cash-like transactions.

You can set up a virtual card number for Apple Cash by following these steps:

  1. Open the Wallet app, then tap your Apple Cash card.
  2. Tap the More button , then tap Card Number.
  3. Tap Set Up Virtual Card Number, then tap Continue.
  4. Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
  5. Tap Done.

Alternatively, you can set up a virtual card number by going to Settings, then scrolling down and tapping Wallet & Apple Pay.

Apple Cash Family accounts can only send or receive up to $2000 within a rolling seven-day period. Tap to Cash transactions can also only be used to send or receive up to $2000 within a rolling seven-day period. Other limits apply, see Terms and Conditions for details.

Apple Cash cards now have virtual card numbers, enabling users to spend their Apple Cash at merchants that don't accept Apple Pay.

To view your virtual card number, go to the Apple Cash card in the Wallet app, tap “…”, tap “Card Number”, and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

Your 3-digit security code changes frequently with usage and over time for fraud protection.

Users can set up Safari AutoFill on their iPhone or iPad to easily access their Apple Cash virtual card number.

You can also manually enter your virtual card number on your computer if needed.

If you suspect fraudulent activity, you can request a new virtual card number.
