Barry Rosenstein's East Hampton Estate

Barry Rosenstein's East Hampton Estate is a breathtaking property that has made headlines for its record-breaking sale price of $147 million. The 18-acre estate was purchased by Rosenstein, a hedge fund manager, in 2014.

The estate features lavish gardens, a modernist property designed by Andrew Gordon, and a 16-acre oceanfront property with a stunning view of the ocean. It's no wonder that Rosenstein decided to break ground on a new mansion, which began construction in June 2014.

Sells for $147 Million

The $147 million sale of Barry Rosenstein's East Hampton estate shattered the record for most expensive home sale ever, breaking the previous record set just two and a half weeks prior.

The property, located at 60 Further Lane, was purchased by Rosenstein, a hedge fund manager, in May 2014.

Rosenstein's estate boasts 16 acres of oceanfront property and features lavish gardens, a pond, and a formal layout.

The previous record for most expensive home sale was held by Copper Beech Farm in Greenwich, Conn., which sold for $120 million earlier in the year.

Rosenstein's purchase of the East Hampton estate was a private deal, made without the aid of a broker.

The property's previous owners, Christopher H. Browne and Andrew Gordon, had a tumultuous relationship with Browne's relatives, who challenged the will after Browne's death.

Gordon, who was Browne's partner, made a confidential settlement in 2012 to allow him to stay in the house until his death.

Rosenstein's neighbors will include notable figures such as Jerry Seinfeld, art dealer Larry Gagosian, and hedge-fund manager Jim Chanos.

The sale of the East Hampton estate also tops the $103 million Ron Baron paid in 2007 for an undeveloped 40-acre parcel on Further Lane.

Oceanfront Mansions Listed for $70M

Barry Rosenstein has listed his oceanfront Lily Pond Lane estate for a whopping $70 million. This is a significant price drop from the $137 million he paid for an 18-acre Further Lane estate just three years ago.

The current estate is a massive 13,623 square feet in size, with seven bedrooms and nine and a half bathrooms. It's a 1920s shingle-style home that has been completely reconstructed since Rosenstein purchased the property in 2005.

The mansion features custom stains and cedar paneling, and was designed by architect Rick Cook of CookFox Architects. This renowned architect is also known for designing the Bank of America Tower in New York City's Bryant Park.

In addition to the main house, there's also a two-bedroom guest cottage, office or studio structure, a garage, and an exercise room. This estate is truly a luxurious oasis.

The estate is listed with agents Tal and Oren Alexander of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
