The APWU dental insurance program is a vital benefit for postal workers, providing comprehensive coverage for a wide range of dental services.

The APWU dental insurance plan covers routine cleanings, fillings, and extractions, as well as more complex procedures like crowns and root canals.

As a postal worker, you're eligible for this insurance if you're an active or retired member of the APWU.

Preventive care services like cleanings and X-rays are covered at 100% after a small copayment.

What is APWU Dental Insurance?

APWU Dental Insurance is available to retired APWU members as long as they remain dues-paying members. This means that if you're a retired APWU member, you can enroll in the Dental Plan.

You can use any dentist you choose and save with economical group rates. The plan is an "indemnity" plan, which means the benefit to you is reimbursed as a percentage of the charges you incur.

The plan has a calendar year deductible of $100 per person for Type II and Type III benefits, combined. This means you'll need to pay $100 out of pocket for certain services before the insurance kicks in.

If you choose the Optional Orthodontics Coverage, you can receive Orthodontics services for your spouse or yourself, as long as you're an insured and covered dependent child as of January 01, 2025.

Voluntary Benefits Plan

The Voluntary Benefits Plan is a great addition to the APWU's offerings. It provides voluntary insurance benefits designed especially for APWU members.

These benefits include disability, life, dental, hospital indemnity, and automobile insurance, as well as numerous other programs. APWU members can enjoy these benefits at no extra cost to their dues.

To be eligible, members must be Active, PSE, Retiree, or Associate dues-paying APWU members. This means that all members can take advantage of these benefits.

The plan is made available through American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (AFLAC), which offers comprehensive, affordable benefits. Members can review plan benefits, rates, and apply online.

Cancer Personal Indemnity and other Specified Health Event insurance coverage are also available through the APWU's Voluntary Benefits Plan. These benefits provide a financial safety net for members and their qualifying family members.
