EmblemHealth and NBF

EmblemHealth and NBF are two entities that play a significant role in the 1199 dental insurance landscape. EmblemHealth, a New York health insurance company, partnered with NBF to offer dental insurance to 1199 members.
EmblemHealth's partnership with NBF brought affordable dental insurance options to 1199 members. This collaboration allowed EmblemHealth to expand its services to a wider audience.
The 1199SEIU Aetna DMO Plan
The 1199SEIU Aetna DMO Plan offers a significant advantage with its vast network of dentists. Over 5,000 participating dentists are available in New Jersey.
One of the standout features of this plan is the absence of an annual dollar maximum, including on orthodontia. This means you won't have to worry about reaching a cap on your dental expenses.
You'll have a Primary Care Dentist (PCD) to coordinate your care and refer you to in-network specialists if needed. This can help streamline your dental care and ensure you're receiving the best possible treatment.

Here are some key benefits of the Aetna DMO Plan at a glance:
Do I Need to Contract with EmblemHealth?
If you're an NBF participating dentist, you'll need to contract directly with EmblemHealth to continue providing service to NBF members and their beneficiaries.
You can join EmblemHealth's Preferred Dental network by contacting them at [email protected] or at www.EmblemHealth.com (click the “Provider” tab, then select “For Dental Providers”).
Your credentialing status with the NBF will not be transferred to EmblemHealth, so you'll need to re-apply if you want to join the network.
If you're already a participating provider in the EmblemHealth Preferred Dental network, you won't have to do anything to continue providing service to NBF members and their beneficiaries.

To verify your participation status with EmblemHealth, you can search their Preferred Dental provider directory at http://psearch.ghi.com/ProviderSearchEHGHI/Search.aspx?Plan=PPO|4|110&Network=06.
If you're not already a participating provider in the EmblemHealth Preferred Dental network, it's a good idea to join to ensure you can continue to provide service to NBF members and their beneficiaries.
Members' Benefits Changes
EmblemHealth and NBF are making some changes to their dental benefits.
All NBF members will have a $3,000 annual maximum dental benefit per calendar year.
This new maximum will cover what NBF has paid for services provided from January 1, 2017, to March 31, 2017, and what EmblemHealth will pay for services provided on or after April 1, 2017, up to December 31, 2017.
Dental ID Cards and Providers
1199 dental insurance offers a convenient way to manage your dental care through their Dental ID Card. This card serves as proof of your insurance coverage.
You can use your Dental ID Card to visit any participating provider in the 1199 network. This network includes over 100,000 providers across the United States.
To find a participating provider, simply visit the 1199 website and use their provider search tool. This tool allows you to search by location, provider name, or specialty.
1199 dental insurance also allows you to visit out-of-network providers, but you'll need to pay a higher copayment or coinsurance. This can be a good option if you have a preferred dentist who isn't part of the 1199 network.
